Williams, who was at the time addressing the recent District ‘C’ 8th Annual Police Constable Awards Ceremony, offered several tips on how the officers can properly execute their duties in the new environment.
“As we continue to strive for safer communities through partnership I need you all to be guided with simple tips such as, the way you speak to citizens, the way you operate as private citizens, the way you behave at social functions, the type of company with whom you associate, all these provide the type of perimeter and the measurement of your character,” Williams told the officers.
The COP also advised the officers that notwithstanding the “sparkle and glory of this fame”, “I implore you to work diligently whether or not some tangible award is given to you publicly.”
Emphasizing that the work of police is not the safest on earth, the Commissioner congratulated the officers and expressed appreciation to the NIA and the many partners for supporting the police.
At the same ceremony, Police Constable No. 660 Antonio Browne was named Best Constable of the Year 2010.
