The cheque was handed over to Pink Lily Chair and Client Support Coordinator, Trace Parris, by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Robert Liburd, in the presence of the Superintendent of Police, Nevis division, Hilroy Brandy, Pink Lily official, Cindy Freeman and the Vice Chairman of the co-operative’s credit committee Inspector Belgrove Franklyn . The handing over ceremony took place at the Charlestown Police Station grounds.
Speaking during the ceremony, ACP Liburd said the handing over of the donation is part of a series of activities that are planned to mark the Police Co-operative Credit Union Ltd’s 30 years of existence, “The police thought it was important to make a contribution to charity. The donations were made to the Children’s Home in St. Kitts and to Pink Lily Cancer Care in Nevis. We are happy to extend a hand of friendship to such an organisation.”
The Manager, St. iand Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, Mario Wigley, said the credit union had chosen to make a donation to Pink Lily to complement efforts being made by the charity to create cancer awareness. He said creating awareness was very important as there is no cure for cancer as yet.
Pink Lily Client Support Coordinator, Tracy Parris thanked members of the Police Credit Union for their generous gesture: “I wish to congratulate the police credit union as as they celebrate their 30th anniversary. I am also taking this opportunity to thank the Police Credit Union for their wonderful donation to Pink Lily. I would like to encourage all the men to take advantage of the free prostate clinic on Saturday the eleventh of January. Pink Lily will be there to give out literature. I urge all men to come out. It is very important to be checked,” Ms Parris said.
