Basseterre, St. Kitts, 11th April, 2018 (MyVueNews.com) – The high priority Forensics Lab of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is nearing completing on its site in Tabernacle.

Construction of the lab facilities began in November 2017 under the supervision of Clive Buckram of Clever Solutions Ltd. of Trinidad. Several local contractors are doing the actual construction of the facilities.

Without providing a specific date, Buckram indicated that the facility will be ready for commissioning soon.

Among other things, the facility will house facilities for firearms testing, machines for fingerprint analysis, forensic lights and a training room.

According to Police authorities, the new lab will speed up processes involved in the investigation of violent crimes, especially those involving firearms.

Describing the building, Buckram said, “The building has good structural nature in terms of it being steel, and it gives good support in terms of the equipment and the level of specialized equipment that will be in the building,”

Buckram continued, “The laboratories and training/conference room contained in the building are quite spacious and the layout facilitates efficiency and ease of movement. The building is firmly embedded with a 14 inch concrete foundation and can withstand extreme weather conditions including 120 miles per hour hurricane force winds.”

A sophisticated surveillance system will be installed to complete the facility.
