Just when the citizens were getting to enjoy a period of calm from the heightened murders of recent years, another senseless killing struck the island of Nevis early Friday morning and when police arrived on the scene they met the body of a man, just outside the home where he resided.
Randolph Butler, who is said to have been 60 years old, lived at Hickman’s Village in Gingerland. Butler, who is also known as “Scott by friends, was apparently shot about three times and was left to die in his own pool of blood, before being discovered just after 7:00am.
However, early reports are suggesting that Scott may have been killed hours before; perhaps around 2:00am. Some neighbours in the area said that they remember hearing gun shots at that time.
One theory expressed by some neighbours was that Scott was lured out of his house when he was shot. It is also believed that his killers attempted to burn his body, given the discovery of a bottle containing what appeared to be gasoline and the burns to parts of the body including the head.
His killing brings to 10, the number of murders in 2013, so far.
