The remains are those of Lower Hamilton resident, Remo Caines.
According to Divisional Commander of Nevis (District C), Hilroy Brandy, Caines’ body was discovered sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. by an individual who was engaged in their morning exercise routine. He said that having made the discovery – in the Montpelier area – the individual lodged a report with the police.
Criminal Investigations officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter and conducted the necessary investigations and according to Brandy, these investigations revealed that Caines had been shot. He did not indicate however, whether or not Caines’ body bore signs of multiple gunshot wounds or a single gunshot wound.
MiyVue.com understands that Caines might not have been executed where he was found but that his body was discarded there after his demise.
The Divisional Commander said Caines was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr. Shandy Jacobs and his remains removed from the scene by the Hunkins Funeral Home and were taken to the Alexandra Hospital Mortuary.
Inspector Brandy indicated that there are currently no suspects in custody and that persons with information relative to this incident are kindly asked to contact the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5294/5391 or 3448. Conditions of anonymity and confidentiality apply.
Caines’ death marks the second to have occurred in Nevis for the year.
