The accident involved motor car P2341 driven by Elvis Richardson of Haynes Smith Village and a pedestrian 83 year old Joseph Allen alias Finey of Pitcairn Street.
Investigations revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the road from the mountain side when he was struck by the car which was travelling towards Basseterre. The Emergency Medical Services responded but was unable to resuscitate the pedestrian. Dr. Mervin Laws, District Medical Officer, visited the scene and pronounced Mr. Allen dead dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The driver of the car was taken in Police custody as the investigation continues.
This is the first road fatility in the Federation for 2011.
