The information received indicated that a Police Constable assigned to the Nevis Division was wounded on Monday, 15th August, when he was attempting to apprehend a man suspected of a wounding in Nevis. According to some reports, the suspect is a mentally challenged individual, who attacked and injured a pastor in his church.
The Police Constable and his partner were executing a search warrant for the suspect at the time the injury occurred. The officer sustained a knife inflicted wound and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital where he was treated and warded in good condition.
The Police information also reports that the victim of the initial wounding incident, for which the suspect was being sought, was also treated at the Alexandria Hospital and has since been released.
The suspect is currently in police custody.
