According a release from the Police Public Relations Department, over one thousand of the plants were found and seized by the Anti-Narcotics Unit, over the past weekend.
According to the Police report, on Friday 22nd October, officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit conducted a marijuana eradication exercise in the St. Pauls Foot Hills area and discovered six (6) plots of land with marijuana growing, the plants ranged from seedlings to eight (8) feet in height.
Miyvue.com contacted the Public Relations Officer, Vaughn Henderson, who did confirm that the plants were counted and amounted to a total of one thousand and fifty-three (1,053).
The cannabis plants were uprooted and later destroyed by burning. No one was held accountable for the find but investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in more Police reports, on Friday 22nd October, at approximately 10:20 pm, Police Officers from the Sandy Point Police Station responded to a report of a shooting at Mount Idle, Sandy Point.
Police enquiries revealed that James Liburd, 53 years old of Crab Hill, Sandy Point, an employee of Annie Jones Bakery, was shot in his right leg and robbed of an undisclosed sum of money and some other items while he was walking across the alley below the Jones Bakery.
Liburd was transported to the hospital by police officer, where he is warded in stable condition. The scene was processed by officers from the Crime Scene Department.
There are no suspects at this time, but investigations are ongoing.
