PORT ZANTE BUSINESSES HOPING FOR INCREASED SALES THIS WEEKEND
As the new cruise ship season gears up for this year, some of the operators of the various shops and restaurants located at Port Zante, say that after a very difficult and slow summer season, their expectations are high for the potential increase in business, over the next six months.
The arrival of Carnival Victory will be the second of three cruise ships to visit St. Kitts this week.
A spokesperson for the ship’s agents confirmed that the 3.050 passenger capacity Carnival Victory will keep its scheduled visit on Friday 21st and the 2,680-passenger capacity ship Carnival Miracle will berth, also at Port Zante on Saturday, (22nd October).
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday18th, the 2,540-passenger capacity Serenade of the Seas brought 2,280 passengers and a crew of 867.
A number of the passengers disembarked the ship and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island wide via various tour companies, buses and taxis. Scores also headed for the sea and sun bathing on the beaches, snorkeling, sailing, horseback-riding and shopping.
By the time the Carnival Victory returns next week for its final October run, it would bring the total to eight, for the number of calls made by four ships, for October.
