Walcott Hillocks has explained that his company, All Solutions Intl, repaired and furnished a block on the compound which comprises of a number of rooms including the Commandant’s office, his secretary’s office and a classroom.
Hillocks, owner and director of the “design and build” company, said he made the decision to invest in the security of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis because for far too long persons – including members of the corporate community – have relied heavily and in some cases wholly on the government to provide everything necessary for an effective crime-fight.
“The whole idea is to assist the police, assist law enforcement and by extension, assist the country. It is our approach to remove, as much as we can, the onus from ‘government’ to ourselves, the general public; because until we understand that ownership really belongs to us, then we will forever wait until government and we will never get anything done because the government in itself if limited to us.
“So our approach is to take responsibility for a space, provide all the necessary ingredients that would make it function as a proper space for anybody to be comfortable in terms of dwelling. We have come in and we are leading by example because we have found that when all is said and done, there is too much more said than done. We have taken the lead the provide everything that is necessary to transform this block from what it was to what it is.”
MiyVue understands that the Antioch Baptist Church has also agreed to contribute to the refurbishment of the compound and prior to the All Solutions Intl’s commitment, the government began renovating portions of the complex including the buildings’ outer walls, the facility’s kitchen, tiling of floors, the replacement of bathroom fixtures and the replacement of dilapidated doors.
Much work, however, remains to be done and the All Solutions Intl. director said he is encouraging all to do likewise and assist with law enforcement, noting that this assistance would redound to the public’s benefit.
