A report from the St. Kitts Meteorological Services stated that the system (called Invest 98l) continues to produce showers and thunderstorms near and to the east of the Lesser Antilles.
The shower and thunderstorm activities are continuing to show some signs of organization and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form during the next day or so. If so, a tropical storm warning could be required for portions of the Leeward Islands.
This system has a high chance, (80 percent), of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves northwestward or north-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.
Regardless of development, strong gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are possible across the Leewards during the next couple of days.
Seas are expected to be very rough, reaching as high as 4m or 12ft.
A warning against hazardous sea conditions continues in place for sea bathers and small craft operators may be required to take extra precautions for the safety of their crafts.
