“Project PURPLE was designed with young people in mind, as a means of giving them a greater voice…,” explained Dr. Esdaille.
In an interview with MiyVue.com Dr. Esdaille explained the importance of family involvement, noting that sometimes parents rarely visit their child’s school unless there is a problem.
To this effect Dr. Esdaille said “We want to have families come out for something that’s fun.”
She also highlighted the upcoming activities, which include a Youth Rally, Fun Day which the parents are especially encouraged to attend, an awards banquet, movie nights and much more activities that will be taking place in September.
The Psychologist and Senior Education Officer also explained that in order to create more opportunities for parents to participate in the project, plans have been organized to engage businesses with implementing workshops for their employees and their children.
“Project PURPLE is intended to create a fun, peaceful environment where students not only learn but they have a greater say in school-based activities, where they’re encouraged to cooperate, to communicate, and to negotiate. These are skills that you need not only in school but in the real world and certainly they can come in handy at home.” stated Dr. Esdaille.
Dr. Esdaille expressed the need for parents and the wider community to embrace Project PURPLE.
