Organizers of the events, the online news website, MiyVue.com, in association with LIME and ZIZ Radio and Television, which next year, celebrates its 50th Anniversary, have teamed up to produce and deliver these new carnival initiatives, that are designed to add more excitement to the re-branded St. Kitts & Nevis Carnival-Sugar Mas.
This weekend, the six queen contestants will engage each other in the Best Radio Interview contest, slated to be broadcast on ZIZ Radio, at 1:00pm, on Saturday 18th December, with a repeat airing on Sunday.
Then on Monday 20th December, the six delegates will once again meet at 4:30pm, at the Circus, Basseterre, but this time for the Best Television Interview, which will be taped in front of a live public audience, in the centre of the city. The interview will thereafter be broadcast on ZIZ Television, at 8:30pm, that same evening, with a repeat at approximately 11:00pm, and another showing the following morning ,Tuesday 21st December, at approximately 6:30 am.
Meanwhile, the calypsonians are scheduled to clash in their competition, on Thursday 23rd December, at De House Nitery, in Soho, from 9:00pm.
The contest has been inserted into the 2010 carnival events to place the spotlight on those calypsonians, who each year, are the life and spirit of the calypso tents. They are the ones with the humorous and entertaining calypso renditions that normally would not qualify for the Senior Monarch Competition, featuring the more serious type of songs. The competition is also being supported by De House Nitery, Legends Band/Tent and the Grand Masters Proud Sounds Calypso Tent.
The artistes will each perform one song and will be judged based on their overall impact on the audience. No official panel of judges will be used. This contest will be solely determined by the popular vote of the public. The show will be carried live on ZIZ Radio & Television and streamed via the internet on www.miyvue.com.
A spokesman has revealed that the public can log on to www.miyvue.com to vote online or to name their choice for winner, by texting 9696, as follows:
