The Managing Director, RAMS Trading Company, Shaun Weston donated presented the check to Pink Lily member and cancer survivor Cindy Freemanin the presence of Pink LilyChair Tracy Parris, Pink Lily PR coordinator Pauline Ngunjiri and Rams Nevis manager Manoj Daswani.
In a statement, Mr Weston said “I was very impressed by the work that has been done by Pink Lily and what they have been able to achieve in the last five years. We felt that we wanted to be part of that and assist where we could”. Weston further stated that Rams was keen on ensuring that the quality of life of cancer survivors and women in general improved. The Managing Director said two brands Poise and Kotex recent arrivals at Rams will enhance the quality of life. The products will be exhibited at the walkathon registration desk and there will be give-away’s as a part of the sponsorship.
Parris thanked RAMS for the generous donation,,”I would like to say thank you very much to Shaun Weston and RAMS for being a platinum sponsor. It means so much to us and it puts us further to do what we want to do.”

Our aim is to have a Drop In Centre where families and public can just come in and have information, share their worries, just share their concerns, have a place to come and share their experiences. I would like to thank RAMS again wholeheartedly on behalf of myself, my sister Lea and Pink Lily volunteers for without sponsors we cannot do what we want to do,” Tracy Parris said.
Meanwhile Pink Lily has also received a Platinum sponsorship pledge from Northern Western Insurance Company (NWIC) and Silver Sponsorship pledges from Four Seasons Resort Nevis and Delisle Walwyn.
Tracy Parris has urged the whole community to join hands with Pink Lily to celebrate 5 years of cancer awareness, support and care services to Nevis as Pink Lily moves forward to the next phase of developing the organisation in order to increase and improve the cancer care services in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“To commemorate this 5 year milestone in Nevis and 4 years in St. Kitts, Pink Lily is inviting sponsors past and new and the community as a whole to join hands and walk with us as we continue the fight to prevent cancer, promote early detection, support those who have been affected by cancer and saves more lives in St. Kitts & Nevis,” Tracy Parris said.
She said those who participate in the annual walkathon will be acknowledging the seriousness of cancer in St. Kitts & Nevis and the need and value of the services provided by Pink Lily in the community. “We need funds to open a Pink Lily Awareness & Support Centre and employ full time staff in Nevis,” Tracy Parris further said.
Tracy Parris who is also the clients support Coordinator said: “For the last 5 years, Pink Lily has tirelessly raised awareness of cancer, supported and made appeals on behalf of sufferers in their time of need and raised funds and provided screening and counselling services for over 200 women and provided financial assistance for treatments and care. As volunteers we have continued demonstrating our commitment and dedication to providing quality cancer care in St. Kitts & Nevis.
“We need the help and continued support of the community by way of sponsorship, donations, funding and participation to build and develop the organisation in order to enhance our services, educate, support and care for more people and families.
“Cancer can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, culture, racial origin, religion or income. Cancer does not discriminate. It can affect us at any time without warning,” Tracy Parris noted.
Tracy Parris revealed that Pink Lily’s founder Lea Parris-Cambridge will be joining the October celebrations when she flies in from England with her mum Mary (also a cancer survivor) in time for the Walk-a-thon. While in Nevis Lea will also be delivering training workshops for Pink Lily support & care volunteers and will be introducing the Pink Lily End Of Life Care Plan. Mary will either be joining in the walk or helping to serve breakfast on the beach at the finish line.
In her usual fashion, Lea will share the continuing Pink Lily journey with the general public via all media outlets in order to inform the community of developments in Pink Lily’s cancer care services, appeal for continued support and to reiterate Pink Lily’s messages of cancer awareness, prevention and early detection.
While in England, as well as raising the profile of Pink Lily among St. Kitts and Nevis associations in the UK and appealing for support and fund raising, Lea has been studying in several areas in order to be able to make a positive contribution when she returns to Nevis. She has qualified in teaching adults in Life- long learning ,Pre and Post natal exercise and End of life care and is currently studying Psychology and learning Spanish. Lea is also a qualified fitness trainer, NLP Master Practitioner and life coach. Her role within Pink Lily is as its Executive director and Awareness coordinator and her vision is to open a Pink Lily Centre for Pink Lily to deliver the highest quality of Cancer awareness, support and care to everyone it serves.
Lea said “I am so excited about this years “Celebrating 5 Years Walkathon” I encourage everyone to come out, join hands with Pink Lily and stand up to cancer. Walk with family, friends, work colleagues, fellow students and neighbours, remember loved ones, celebrate life and have fun”.
Lea also added “Another important part of my trip is to introduce the Pink Lily End Of Life Care Plan to St. Kitts and Nevis.
“It is important to care for our loved ones at every step of their journey and to be there for the family at difficult times or when difficult decisions have to be made. Communication is so important and Pink Lily will help build lines of communication between, the cancer sufferer, family members, and the medical team to be able to discuss the difficult, sensitive and important matters in order to ensure that all, practical, physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs are met. The End of Life Care Plan will help bring peace at a time of uncertainty” .
