Local cricket officials have indicated that most of the arrangements have been completed for the arrival of the teams and officials and also the preparations of the pitch and field at the stadium, where the game is to be played.
Members of the stadium’s ground staff have been observed, during the last two weeks, making sure that the playing conditions are adequate for the game that will run from Thursday 16th to Sunday, 20th , starting at 10:00am daily.
Cricket fans are being encouraged to support the match, which according to officials, is FREE of charge.
They have indicated that both teams will be fielding very strong contingents, as they continue their campaign for a much needed victory to enhance their chances of lifting the championship trophy from Jamaica, winners of the 2011 tournament.
According to an official from the Organizing Committee, (OC), the hosting of this match is significant for St. Kitts and Nevis, as it demonstrates confidence in the abilities of local cricket officials and government, to respond on short notice, to accept the challenge to prepare and host such a potentially important game between two tough contenders.
According to a recent release from the West Indies Cricket Board, WICB, the match was previously scheduled to take place in Guyana, as a home game for that country, but due to certain challenges being faced with the administration of the game there, a decision was taken to move the match to a neutral country and St. Kitts was selected as the preferred venue.
