Requiem Service for Former Leaders of Labour Movement

A release from Government said that well known barrister Dr. Henry Browne will give the feature address during the service at the St. Paul’s Parish Church in St. Paul’s on Sunday, 29th May.

Amongst those who have been invited to attend are the Governor General, Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian; Prime Minister Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, Cabinet Ministers, the Diplomatic Corps, the Executive Officers and Members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union, family members and a wide cross section of the local community.

The Service, which starts at 4:00 P.M., will give thanks and praise for the service of the early pioneers of the Labour Movement including Thomas Manchester and J. Matthew Sebastian and National Heroes, Their Right Excellencies, Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw, Sir C. A. Paul Southwell and Sir Joseph N. France; Their Excellencies Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore and E. St. John Payne and the Fitzroy Bryant and Charles E. Mills.

The Service will be conducted by Father Wilfred Daniel with Rev. Joyce Rohan officiating and Lady Hulda Lawrence as Organist. The First Lesson will be read by Prime Minister Douglas and the Second Lesson by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Sam Condor.

Organizers say the Service this year will include greater participation by the youth, who will use verses from the Bible in a choral speaking setting, paying tribute to the late fallen heroes and a presentation by New Generations.
