Retired High Court Judge of Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court dies

D’Auvergne who served as acting Justice of the Appeal Court and Judge of the International Labour Organisation’s administrative tribunal, died early Monday.

A practising Barrister since January 1975 in St Lucia, she was appointed Magistrate to the First District and Additional Magistrate to the Second District Courts September 1979.

Between 1982 and 1988 she served as St Lucia’s Director of Public Prosecutions, and was the island’s first ever female Solicitor General.

She also served as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and on several boards.

D’Auvergne was awarded the St Lucia Medal of Honour for her service to justice and the Companion of the Order of Saint Michael and St George.

She also chaired the constitutional review commission which was established in 2005.

D’Auvergne retired as a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in 2004.
