Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine Renews Partnership in St. Kitts and Nevis

The renewal paves the way for RUSVM to move forward on a planned expansion of its campus and facilities. By way of the agreement, the School commits to spending a minimum of USD $25 million over the next five years on the School’s expansion. RUSVM has plans to construct new facilities on campus that will enhance educational opportunities and increase enrollment capacity.

“With the government’s strong support and advocacy, we have been able to build an internationally regarded education program in St. Kitts,” said Dr. Andrew Jeon, president of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. “Their cooperation has ensured that Ross’s faculty and students have the resources they need to fulfill the School’s educational mission. It is our hope that the continued partnership and planned expansion activities will have mutual benefit for the students of Ross and families in our local community.”

Since its founding in 1983, RUSVM has been a committed partner with local government and business leaders. RUSVM employs more than 300 staff, of which about 70 percent are local nationals. The new construction projects will result in additional permanent positions and are expected to increase revenues for local businesses due to the added student capacity. Currently more than 900 students are living and studying in St. Kitts.

The School is also a founding member of the Coalition of Support for St. Kitts-Nevis Security Initiatives (CSSKNSI), a group of organizations established to support the partnership between the law enforcement, business and government in developing positive initiatives to improve safety and security within the Federation. The CSSKNSI, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LIME, Digicel and a number of local community groups and businesses have recently launched the internationally recognized Crime Stoppers program in St. Kitts and Nevis designed to enable the public to assist law enforcement anonymously and confidentially by sharing information.
