The Saddlers Secondary School hosted its first teenage show last Saturday, 16th November, 2013 with a showcase of five beauties. The contestants who represented a professional area of study were, Miss Home Economics; Skyadishma Dickenson, Miss Business Studies; Cerese Clarke, Miss Math and Science; Latidra Woodley, Miss Visual Arts; Paulean Bryan and Miss Technology; Delia Powell.
Each young lady competed in the Ambassadorial Speech, Performing talent, Evening wear and On-stage interview segments of the show.
At the end of the night, it was the Math and Science representative; Latidra Woodley who was crowned the first-ever Miss Saddlers Secondary School in front of the fairly large supportive crowd.
Woodley not only received the crown but also captured top awards in Ambassadorial Speech with 102 points, Evening wear achieving 79 points, the On-stage Interview segment with 137 points and the non-judged award for Miss Photogenic.
She received a grand total of 488 points outshining her closest rival by 25 points.
The 1st runner up spot was copped by Miss Visual Arts; Paulean Bryan with a total of 463 points and the award for best talent. Bryan’s talent was awarded 179 points by the judges. She in her winning piece showcased a child being neglected by her mother with little or no interest being shown.
Cerese Clarke, who carried the mantle for Business Studies was presented with the trophy for the 2nd runner up spot and amassed 440 ½ points.
Miss Shanika French, a teacher at the school, expressed that she was happy with the turn out of the show. She also said that she hopes the school will look into adding the pageant to the calendar of events each year.
“The show went well and was well supported by the general public” adding “I hope that it can be held annually”
The Saddlers Secondary School in 2010 and 2011 was well represented by ‘selected’ girls who competed at the talented teen pageant held in respective years.
