Sandy Point shooting victim transferred to JNF

The shooting victim is said to be a 23-year-old male who resides in Cleverly Hill, Sandy point.

A release from the police press office indicated that the shooting occurred sometime around 2:15 am on Sunday, 14th August.

According to the Police Information, initial investigations revealed that an adult male was shot by an unknown assailant(s) along the island main road in Sandy Point resulting in multiple wounds. 

The victim was taken to the Pogson Medical Centre for treatment. He has since been transferred to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for more intensive care.

It was also reported that one (1) .9mm firearm with a number of matching rounds was found in the area of the scene. 

This finding brings the number of illegal firearms seized to date to 20. In 2015, 21 illegal firearms were seized.

This incident follows two separate incidents that took place on Thursday, 11th August, that left three young men injured. 

In one of the incidents two young men were shot around 7:55 pm while at the dwelling of one of the victims. In the other instance, a young man reportedly showed up to the Mary Charles Hospital with gunshot injuries.

Police investigation into these shootings continues.
