Reports are that Jeffers, who has been candid about the team’s lack of adequate preparation heading into next week’s CFU Caribbean Cup, submitted his resignation to the ABFA on Wednesday
When contacted, Jeffers declined to comment, suggesting that The Daily OBSERVER contact the ABFA for any information.
But when called upon for clarification, President of the ABFA said he was not in a position to confirm or deny the reports. He, however, promised an update once he was made aware of the situation.
Jeffers reportedly informed the FA that he wished to concentrate on the preparation of his new club, Fort Road FC, and will be channelling his efforts in that direction.
Antigua is set to host Anguilla, St Vincent & the Grenadines and the Dominican Republic in group play from September 3-8 at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG).
Jeffers had, however. raised concerns over the poor turnout of players to training sessions, which on an average he said, was between five to six players.
In his most recent interview, the former national player suggested that the FA acquire the services of players based in England and other parts of the world for the competition.
Reports indicate that Jeffers’ replacement has been selected from amongst the Under-20 coaching staff.
