According to police reports, at about 11:35 am on Friday 20 July 2012, two (2) armed masked men entered the Bird Rock Branch of Scotia Bank and robbed the institution of an undisclosed sum of money.
After being notified the police responded to the scene and commenced investigations; the Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene.
No one however was hurt in the process said a police release.
Meanwhile in other news from the police they have confirmed the arrests of a number of persons for various other offenses. These include Troy Williams of West Farm who was formally arrested and charged for escaping Lawful Custody on 15th April 2012.
Two (2) juveniles of St Pauls were also arrested for Housebreaking and Larceny which was committed on 16th July 2012 and Ryan Khadou of Stoney Grove was arrested and charged for Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 17th July 2012.
At the circuit court, cases that were traversed to the September 12th Criminal Assizes included:
- Baba Tunde Damilala Alonge of Cardin Ave was convicted of two counts of false pretence committed on 13th June 2012
- Rafael Adames of Conaree Village was convicted on 3rd July 2012 for Incest.
- Xavier Elliott and Junior Stevens of Tabernacle Village were convicted on 28th June 2012 for robbery and Assault with intent to rob.
- Evans Amory of Ponds Pasture convicted on 17th July 2012 on 2 counts of Indecent Assault.
- Alpha Duporte of Godwin Ghaut was convicted on 5th December 11 for Murder.
Police have also revealed that Marlon Kelly of Trafalgar Village plead guilty for the offence of Burglary and was given a conditional discharge. Mr Kelly would be released from Her Majesty Prison on 23rd July 2012 and if he commits an offence within 12 months from his release, he would be taken back to court and be sentenced for the offence for which he was convicted.
On the other hand Denrick Jeffers of Sandy Point was found guilty of Rape which was committed on 5th June 2012 and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
In the Brimstone Hill Robbery Case, Elroy Williams, Junior Sobratie and Curtis Long all of Sandy Point, who pleaded guilty on 6th June, 2012, to the offence of robbery, were all sentenced to 20 years in prison, but, had their sentence reduced to 13 years and 3months in prison.
George Welsh of Sandy Point who pleaded guilty on 6th June, 2012 to the offence of accessory before the fact, was also sentenced to 20 years which was reduced to 13 years 3 months. Delvin Francis of St. Pauls who also pleaded guilty to accessory before the fact was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but, had his sentence reduced to 6 years 8 months.
Over at the Basseterre Magistrate’s court, Dion French of Saddlers Village was convicted for driving without due care and attention which was committed on 29th August 2011 and fined $500.00 in 2 months or 2 weeks imprisonment
Tudi Deharan was convicted for driving without a valid and expired licence on 3rd April 2012 was fined $400.00 in a week or 1 week imprisonment, he was also convicted for driving without insurance and was fined $1200.00 in 1 week or 2 week imprisonment.
Ramon Palmer of Sebastian Street was convicted for driving without insurance on 15th June 2012 and was fined $1,000.00 in 2 weeks or 1 week imprisonment.
Jose Pereira was convicted for four charges: (1) Giving a false name to police officer and fined $1,000.00 in 1 month or 1 week in prison, (2) Fraudulent use of motor vehicle licence on 25th June 2012 and was fined $200.00 in a week or 1 week imprisonment, (3) Driving without valid and unexpired licence on 26th June 2012 and was fined $400.00 in 2 weeks or 1 week imprisonment, and (4) Driving without insurance policy and was fined $1,000.00 in 1 month or 1 week imprisonment
