The initiative was pursued as part of a national effort to recognize the great worth and value of the young people of the country, especially in light of the many negatives that are usually assigned to teenagers when it comes to problems being faced with crime and violence.
A spokesperson for the Department of Youth Empowerment has revealed that they are now inviting nominations for persons to be considered for the 2013 presentation.
They indicate that nominated candidates must be between the ages of 12 to 19.
Awards will be presented in various categories including youth activism, community service, culinary arts, civic involvement, dance, drama, leadership, scholar athlete and many more.
The application deadline is June 04, 2013, said the spokesman. At the time of presentation, the winning candidates will be celebrated in the National Assembly of St. Kitts and Nevis, in the presence of members of the parliament and carried live on television.
