Students from 4th and 5th forms, at high schools around the federation will be presented with their personal laptops, by the Prime Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas.
The laptops will be presented to the students while the Prime Minister and his Cabinet are conducting their annual visits to the schools, as part of the independence celebrations.
Visits will be made to the Basseterre High School, followed by the Washington Archibald High School, the Immaculate Catholic Conception School, the Cayon High School, the Charles E. Mills Secondary School, the Verchild’s High School and the Saddlers Secondary School.
The Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College will also be featured on the list of schools to be visited by the PM and his Cabinet.
Earlier this year, Dr. Denzil Douglas accepted 2,400 laptops from resident Ambassador Mr. Miguel Tsao, for the 2nd phase of the One-2-One Laptop Program.
Over 800 laptops were distributed to fifth formers in June this year.
Mr. Douglas Promised Ambassador Tsao that on accepting the laptops, 4th and 5th form students in St. Kitts will receive their personal laptops at the start of the new school term.
“The One-to-One Lap Top Computer Initiative is not simply empowering the individual student but the entire household, community and nation”, said the PM.
“I think that Nevisian and Kittitian students are going to develop skills which would be critically important in advancing St. Kitts and Nevis technologically. That child will not only be developing those skills at home, but also the sister, the brother, the mother, the father, the entire family is going to be empowered,” said Dr. Douglas
The Kittitian Prime Minister assured Ambassador Tsao that the Republic of China “Puts St. Kitts and Nevis on the path towards a technological revolution and it is only time that will show the enormous benefits that will accrue”
