In a release issued to the media on Thursday, the police, with the support of the Defense force have indicated that their operations will include the establishment of vehicle check points and they also intend to conduct stop and searches in various areas of the country.
The joint operations, which began on Wednesday 6th March, are expected to run until Monday 11th March. It is further understood that these will be conducted around the clock, between the hours of 6:00pm and 6:00am.
The police are also cautioning motorists and members of the public generally, to adhere to the instructions of the security officers.
The have warned that this is all part of their policy of “zero tolerance” in crime fighting
Security officials have also revealed that on Wednesday 6th March 2013, at around 1:30 pm, officers of the Cayon Police Station responded to a report at Cayon High School. Initial investigation revealed that a seventeen (17) year old was wounded by another juvenile.
The wounded juvenile was taken to the hospital and the other juvenile was taken into police custody to assist with investigation.
