Senior Calypso Monarch Finalists Selected

The Semi Finals Began with a minute’s silence for the passing of Dwayne Sturge who was a member of the calypso subcommittee and who passed away suddenly two weeks ago, and was buried only hours before on Thursday.

Starting in front of a small crowd that was caught off guard with a 6:20pm start, the size of the audience gradually grew as the show progressed.

Each calypsonian came out trying to put their best foot forward and showed little signs of fear as they were all determined to impress the judges and make their job more and more difficult.

Popular calypsonians Ayatollah, Konris, and Big Lice brought the crowd to its feet with their popular songs; also some who surprised the crowd were Rodder, Godfrey and Take Over.

The Calypsonians performed in two rounds.

The night ended with the chairman of the Calypso Sub Committee Mr. Sylvester Anthony announcing the seven Finalists who are: King Konris, Big Lice, Isoursop, Anastasia, Godfrey, Socrates and Take Over. These will now move on to face King Pungwa in the Finals which will be held on 28th December, at the Sugar Mill.

Carnival merchandise was also on sale at the show after it was previously announced that the merchandise shop is now open.

As per usual, calypso fans left Carnival City having their own opinions on who they thought should have and should have not made it to the finals.

The MCs of the show were Calypso Reggie and Sandra B.
