The incident occurred less than 24 hours after the Lodge shooting which had a total of three casualties and according to information reaching MiyVue.com, dead is Kelvin ‘Boopy’ Hazel of Shadwell.
Further reports suggest that the incident occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. last evening (24th May) when, two masked gunmen approached a group of men who were in the Shadwell area and opened fire on them.
Hazel (17) and another, Elron Wilkinson, were shot during the onslaught, with Wilkinson making an escape by running for his life. He, this publication understands, was rushed to the JNF where he underwent emergency medical treatment and was said to be in critical condition.
Hazel however died on scene and was reportedly pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) visited the scene and conducted preliminary investigations and as the officers there continue their investigations, members of the public who may have information relative to this incident, are asked to contact that department at 465-2241 extension 230 or 220.
As has been the case, persons are welcomed to give information namelessly and in confidence.
Approximately 23 hours prior to this occurrence of this incident, two young men: Ken Whyte and Ikimba Bradley, were killed by gunmen who had entered the Lodge house in which they were and opened fire upon them. Another individual, Clement Bowrin, who was in the house when the incident occurred, was also shot and was transported to the hospital where he is currently being treated.
Both incidents are still under investigation and the most recent marks the 12th homicide to have taken place in the federation for the year.
