Shooting victim dies from wounds at hospital has confirmed that the victim died shortly after lunch today Tuesday 23rd September at the Joseph N France Hospital, where he was a patient during the past hours.

Reports are that Herbert may have received two bullet wounds during the shooting.

The wounds are said to have been received to the upper portion of his body which may be the cause of his demise.

Police say their initial investigations reveal that two (2) men entered the JNF General Hospital and attacked Herbert, who is from Lower Thibou Avenue in Basseterre.

They then escaped on foot.

Reports had indicated that the gunmen entered the hospital at around 7:30pm looking for the young man, at which time they opened fire hitting him several times about the body.

This incident created chaos at the hospital as persons in the area all scampered for cover as shots rang out in the normally peaceful hospital area.

It is said by some that Herbert entered the hospital compound with the hope of eluding the men but failed to do so, resulting in them hitting their mark.

Public Relations Officer Lyndon David stated that discussions are currently on going with key stakeholder groups about security measures for the hospital.

Police are continuing their investigations into the shooting incident.
