In a statement issued on Thursday, the management indicated that “at approximately 2.30 pm on Wednesday 25th January,” a construction worker was fatally injured on the Fort Tyson Ltd. construction Site.
Construction Director, Sebastian Mottram issued a statement that said, “The worker was supervising a lifting operation moving construction material to the top floor of a building. Although the correct safety procedures, equipment and lifting plans had been discussed and put in place, it is believed that the load slipped from the lifting straps and fell injuring the supervisor.”
Mottram said “Emergency triage procedures were immediately put in place by trained personnel and the ambulance crew responded quickly but were unable to revive him.”
He said, “This is a tragic accident which has deeply shocked us all. Our thoughts at this time are for his family and friends. We are closing the site until further notice. I would like to thank the ambulance and emergency services for their professional and immediate response.”
Mr. Mottram stated that the family have been notified and “our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.”
Police meantime are continuing their investigations into the accident.
