Claire Worsfold and Lauren Barry, Human Resources Managers, Cosmo Macera IT and Communications Officer, and Sabrina Cortese handed over a number of writing and craft materials, backpacks, linens, and crew gear to Ms. Eartha Williams, Resident Administrator, and members of the Board of Directors at a recent ceremony held at the Home.
According to Ms. Wordfold, “the delegation leaned of the Children’s Home when she was crew member on another vessel and decided to get the Silver Sea Crew involved in ‘adopting’ the Children’s Home.”
In accepting the most welcomed gesture, Ms. Williams, expressed words of appreciation to the team on behalf of the Board and children for the supplies. She further added that “the contribution will go along way in assisting the Home in its ongoing efforts to cater to the needs of its residents.”
The St. Christopher Children’s Home is managed by the St. Christopher Children’s Home and Service League and was founded during the 1930s. It is a charitable organization entirely supported by donations, sponsors and fund-raising efforts by the Board and that provides a safe family environment for children aged four (4) to eighteen (18) who are unable to live in their familial homes due to a variety of reasons.
The Board is supported by a number of Organizations and agencies including the Department of Probation and Child Protection Services, and the Friends of the Children’s Home – a voluntary group of supporters who provides one to one support with reading, math and other activities for the children.
