The athletic events are scheduled for 12th to 21st August, 2016, and it is the hope that the athletes from the Federation will secure as many medals as possible.
Team SKN will be competing on the following days in the specified events:
Saturday 13th August – Men’s 100m Heats 11:00 a.m.
Monday 15th August – Women’s 200m Heats 8:35 a.m.
Tuesday 16th August – Men’s 200m Heats 10:50 a.m.
Thursday 18th August – Men’s 4 x 100m Relay Heats 10:40 a.m.
Captain of the team, Antoine Adams, seems to be quite satisfied with his preparations thus far. He stated that he has been training, resting and eating. In his view, rest is of great significance and indicated that he has been getting his usual seven hours of sleep.
Adams said that training is not so intense at this point but stated, “My coach and I are just fine tuning and getting the body ready to take on the world.” In getting his body ready, the captain has been including mainly carbs and protein in his daily meals. He said that he has developed an addiction to cassava as of late due to the fact that it rejuvenates him and his body reacts well to it.
Captain Adams has not yet ventured to explore Rio, as he is “focusing on getting ready for [his] events”. He indicated that he has been going back and forth between the track for training and the Olympic Village.
The Olympic village, he cited, is very beautiful but what he considers most important is that it gets the job done.
In comparing these Olympic Games to those held in London of 2012 Adams said, “the atmosphere is about the same to me. The best athletes from around the world have come together to compete at the highest stage in sports.” He added, “It does not get any better than this.”
