SKN PLACES FIRST RUNNER-UP IN COURTS READING COMPETITION

There were six finalists vying for the title of OECS Best Reader held in St Lucia. The only male participant who hails from Grenada, was judged the winner. St. Kitts was placed first runner-up and Dominica took the second position.

Paulette James, a teacher from SDA, accompanied Asharie on the trip, while Education Officer Debbie Isaac was one of the judges. The Courts representative Kathy Rouse, along with other Courts employees also attended at the competition.

Participants were each given a trophy, a laptop, and other tokens. The winner, first and second place winners received additional monetary gifts of $EC5000, $EC3000, $EC2000 respectively. All the other participants received $EC1000 each.

The Ministry of Education extended appreciation to Mrs. Dorothy Martin, a retired teacher, for her invaluable assistance in helping to prepare Asharie for the big event. Special thanks also went to the principal, Evette Blanchette and staff at the Seventh Day Adventist School for their continued support and hard work in preparing Ms. Wrensford, as well as her grandmother Ms. Agatha Andries.

Once again, congratulations to Asharie Wrensford for her outstanding performance at the Courts Regional Competition 2013.
