The PRO of the SKNAAA Evris Huggins, in an interview with Miyvue.com on Wednesday, 11th January, 2012, stated, “The development meets are just an opportunity to give the athletes a chance to qualify for the various international events. They are also used as a chance for the athletes to get in some competition and know where they stand.”
He also said that the reasons for hosting this development meet in sandy point is to give different clubs and schools a chance to host a meet. He said one can now expect to see a number of development meets being held across the various venues on the island. In the recent past he said, most of the events were held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium in Bird Rock.
The PRO also said that the meet is open to all athletes whether they are representing a club, a school, entering just as an independent athlete.
Also announced by the SKNAAA was that transportation will be provided by the buses of the Ministry of Education.
The buses will begin pick up from Cayon via Basseterre, to the New Sandy Point Recreation Ground from 12:00pm, then a second bus will begin its pick up from Tabernacle, via St Pauls. Also at 12:00pm.
