A statement for the body that governs the sport of athletics in St. Kitts & Nevis, confirmed on Thursday 14th April, that the meet which was planned for this weekend, Sunday 17th April, has had to be pulled from the calendar of events.
The release from the St. Kitts & Nevis Amateur Athletics Association, SKNAAA, also indicated that a similar event originally planned for Sunday 1st May, 2011, has also been called off.
The SKNAAA however gave no reason for the cancellations of the previously announced events that were partly being used to prepare athletes for upcoming international and regional competitions, including the CARIFTA Games in Jamaica, during the Easter Weekend.
The sporting body, did however, assure athletic fans, athletes and coaches, that the next Athletic Meet at the Silver Jubilee Stadium will be the World Athletics Day Meet, scheduled for Sunday 8th May, 2011.
The SKNAAA, in the meantime said it is encouraging all clubs, schools, coaches, athletes, and other officials and fans, to support the Titans Athletic Club’s 2011 T.A.C Relays Championships, slated for Saturday 16th April, 2011 at Grove Park, Nevis.
