A handing over ceremony was held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium on Monday 29th November where President for the SKNAAA, Glen Jeffers, presented the equipment valued at EC$8,000 to the Director for Sports, Dave Connor.
According to Jeffers, the equipment was made available to assist the Sports Department with the cutting of the grass at the Silver Jubilee Stadium. He also highlighted the close working relationship between the association and the Sports Department.
“The Sports Department and the SKNAAA have been closely working together with the maintenance of the stadium and with the addition of this spray can and tractor, these will ensure that the grounds of the facility are kept low with regards to the grass… We know they (Sports Department) have lawnmowers and so on but this tractor is an addition that will help us to maintain the beautification of the facility,” Jeffers said.
“We’ve been working with the Sports department in ensuring that the ground is maintained. We also consider the rough financial period that we are all experiencing and this donation we hope will ease the burden of maintaining the grounds of the facility,” the president added.
On receiving the donation, Sports Director Connor commended the association for the donation, which he ensured will be used primarily at the Stadium.
“We are very pleased that this partnership between the SKNAAA and the sports department can continue to be fruitful, not only in producing athletes but also looking to maintain the infrastructures for them to train and perform upon…”
Commenting on the high grass presently at the facility, Connor said, “I assure you that the mower and the spray-can will be put to use immediately.”
The Silver Jubilee Stadium is expected host to over twenty athletes from Canada who will be on island for two weeks training starting 1st December.
