Huggins also labeled TDC’s contribution as pledge that has made it possible for young athletes to recognize their potential.
TDC officially handed over its sponsorship package, that included a bundle of goods and services, to assist with the successful staging of the what has been dubbed a ‘Mini Olympics’ by many sporting officials across the Federation.
The presentation was made by Mr. Dominic Matthew, TDC Client Relations and Marketing Assistant to Mr. Evris Huggins, the SKNAAA Public Relations Officer, at the ZIZ Media Centre, where the brief ceremony took place.
Matthew spoke of the Group’s longstanding commitment to Sports and in particular the Games and reiterated the importance of investing in the event.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA), the hosts of the Interschool Track and Field Championships has received the backing of the TDC Group of Group of Companies to stage the 2012 edition of the Games.
Matthew stated, “On behalf of the TDC Group of Companies, it is my pleasure to present our corporate package for this year’s Championships. When the Group first gave our approval for this event, we recognized that our investment would pay great dividends. More importantly, we saw it as an opportunity to back a grassroots activity, where young people can benefit through the various athletic disciplines that would help to mould them to become responsible and productive citizens, said the Marketing Executive.
In response, Huggins thanked Matthew and commended the Company for its commitment to the games and athletics on a whole.
“We are pleased to have you as our partner and commend you for being with us for such a long time. Your backing has paved the way for the likes of Kim Collins, Tiandra Ponteen, Jason Rogers and many others to not only perform but represent themselves and our country on the global stage, because of your unwavering commitment. The SKNAAA records our sincere appreciation to you,” stated Huggins.
In 1977, the Trading and Development Company Limited was one of the first enterprises to sponsor the inaugural track and field championship, which was held at the Basseterre High School grounds.
