This was done on Saturday 13th August 2011, during the closing ceremony.
The Grassroots Camp was comprised of forty-seven (47) participants representing fourteen (14) schools, between the ages 4-15 under supervision of six (6) local coaches, amassing 18 hours of practicing.
In addition, at the ITTF Level 1 course, six tennis enthusiasts completed the required hours to attain the ITTF Club-Community coaching and or the ITTF Level I certificates.
One of the main objectives of the SKNTTA is that all attendees including the previous participants who have completed ITTF Level I course in 2004 and 2010, undertake coaching assignments within the community centres and neighbouring primary and secondary schools as it is aiming to increase the level of participation in Table Tennis and creating a bigger team of table tennis players in the federation of St Kitts and Nevis.
A press release from the organisation explained that the SKNTTA hopes, through the community coaching and after school projects, regular table tennis events of a reasonable standard would be played throughout St Kitts and Nevis.
The Association was also encouraged to host more activities aimed at keeping the children engaged throughout the year.
The SKNTTA is anticipating the coordination of tennis table activities with the support of Ministry of Social and Community Development, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
