Slogan and Patron for Culturama Selected, Announced

 

A press release issued by the Secretariat informs that the slogan – selected from a lot of 51 – promotes music, mas’ and fun and was penned by Shadeo Browne.

“The winning slogan reads ‘Mas, Music, Fun for 2K11! Truly a Cultural Expression!’ and was selected from among 51 entries. The winning entry was submitted by Mr Shadeo Browne, a resident of Zion Village Gingerland Nevis. This winning slogan will be used to vigorously market Culturama 2011 locally, regionally and internationally…The Festivals Secretariat takes this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Browne for his winning slogan and also to thank all those persons who participated in the 2011 Culturama Slogan Competition.”

Having crafted the winning slogan, Mr. Browne, according to the press release, would receive two complementary tickets to all 2011 Culturama activities.

Ms. Eulalie Brazier-Francis of Government Road, according to the release, has been selected at the Patron for the 2011 festival. MiyVue.com understands that this move is an unprecedented one as over the years the patrons have been persons who have contributed to the musical, theatrical etc aspects of Nevis’ cultural fabric. Brazier-Francis however, has contributed much to the advancement of the culture of Nevis through the culinary arts.

“The Ministry of Social Development, the Nevis Cultural Development Foundation and the Nevis Culturama Committee salute Ms Eulalie Brazier-Francis for her sterling contribution towards the advancement and preservation of Culture and Culturama on Nevis…Ms Brazier-Francis will be recognized for her untiring efforts at preserving and promoting the Nevisian cultural heritage in the field of culinary arts. She becomes the fourteenth Nevisian cultural icon to be recognized by the Nevis Culturama Committee since this initiative started in 1998 and the first person to be recognized in the field of culinary arts.”

Outlining the responsibilities of Brazier-Francis as patron of the Culturama 2K11 festivities, the release explained that she “would be present at all Culturama 2011 activities and that she would be the Grand Marshall leading the 2011 Culturama Cultural Street Parade on Tuesday August 2nd.”

Culturama festivities begin on 21st July, 2011 and would conclude at on 2nd August, 2011.
