The funds were donated from a special event organized by the Operation Future and the owners of Cafe’ Des Art, on 23rd April.
Operation Future, which is a police community initiative, with the motto, “Greater Achievement for Every Child”, is an organization that seeks to assist other groups who share a similar goal of assisting the youth of the Federation.
Owner of Café’ Des Art, Ms. Elizabeth Smith, explained that it was also due to her company’s shared desire to assist the youth of St. Kitts & Nevis, why she decided to team up with Operation Future to organize a jumbo sale, with the aim of raising funds for the Special Olympics movement.
She said that the sale was a tremendous success and they were able to raise some EC$3,000.00.
The event came after a month of preparations that saw the organizers soliciting items for sale from various individuals and companies.
Joann MacMullin of Operation Future said they are extremely grateful for the generosity of the many people who donated items to be sold to benefit the worthy cause. Also appreciated was the support of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, said MacMullin. The funds were handed over to the Special Olympics on Tuesday 3rd May.
