The athletes will be accompanied by five officials including three coaches, a technical leader and a manager.
St. Kitts & Nevis will participate in 100m, 200m, long jump, javelin, 400m, 4x100m, 200m, and 800m.
Team Leader, Osdel Hanley, who is also the Games Secretary on the SKNAAA Executive Committee, said, “Preparations are going great! The athletes are training hard under the watchful eyes of the coaches. The team management is pleased with the attitude of the athletes and we expect them to perform to the best of their abilities.”
Technical Leader and Level V Sprints and Hurdles Coach, Stewart Joseph said, “Based on preparations, I am optimistic that the team will do very well, which will speak volumes of the development initiatives undertaken by the SKNAAA.”
The team will depart on Tuesday 20th August 2013 and arrive in Medellin on Wednesday 21st August 2013. Departure from Medellin will be on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th.
The SKNAAA Executive Committee has extended congratulations to the Junior Athletes and wished them a successful PANAMERICAN Junior Championships Campaign. They have also thanked the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) for their continued support of initiatives such as these.
The SKNAAA admitted that their desire to compete at this year’s Championship would not have come to fruition without the full financial backing of the SKNOC to the tune of EC78, 000.00.
