St. Kitts & Nevis Defeats Antigua to Clinch Second Victory in CFU Tournament

As the whistle blew for the start of the game, the home team and fans were shocked by an early goal from Antigua & Barbuda that came in the very first minute, from Akeem Thomas. The 1-nil score line continued throughout the first half leaving Team St. Kitts & Nevis somewhat despondent.

They did not have to wait too long though by the time the second half of the match was kicked off, because in the 50th Captain Devaunghn Elliott found the back of the net, producing the long awaited equalizer in the 50th minute.

The Kittitian/Nevisian fans had reason shortly after to celebrate when six minutes later, (in the 56th), Travis “Rug Rat” Sommersall produced the game leader, giving his team a 2-1 victory over Antigua & Barbuda.

Yellow Cards were issued to four Team St. Kitts & Nevis players, namely, Bradley Williams, Javiem Blanchette, Juliani Archibald and Shaquille Pringle.  Luke Lauran from Antigua also was on the receiving end of a red card.

In the game played earlier between Haiti and St. Lucia, the French team also picked up their second win, with a 2-nil victory.

Haiti made use of its chances in the first half, with goals from Sonny Norde in the 7th minute and Charles Herald Junior in the 36th minute.

Yellow Cards were issued to Joseph Jamil (St. Lucia), Jackinto Jean (Haiti), Pernal Williams (St. Lucia) and Charles Herold Junior (Haiti).

The tournament is due to come to a close on Monday 25th July when St. Kitts and Nevis and Haiti will clash at 8:00pm, to determine the winners of Group D.

Antigua and Barbuda will also play against St. Lucia, in the early game at 6:00pm.
