St. Kitts & Nevis Observes Lenten Season

Joining the ranks of organizations that have called for the cooperation of the public, in this period of observance, is the Ministry with responsibility for Ecclesiastical Affairs, that issued a public statement reminding the general public that the Lenten period began on Wednesday 9th March 2011 and runs until Good Friday 22nd April 2011.

The Ministry appeals to the general public to respect this aspect of our religious and cultural traditions, by engaging in sober activities and by lessening the playing of loud music especially within earshot of churches.

Special church services and other events are planned for the occasion as Christian reflect on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the sacrifices made on behalf of mankind.

The said that people of all religious persuasions should extend their cooperation until the observance of Lenten season is over.
