A Government statement in Basseterre indicated that St. Kitts and Nevis’ Permanent Representative, Ambassador Delano Bart, Q.C., and his Indonesian counterpart, Desra Percaya signed a Joint Communiqué to establish diplomatic ties between the two countries in New York last Thursday, 30th January, 2014.
Both countries will be able to foster friendship and cooperation between the two countries and nations, stated the release.
After the signing, the Indonesian ambassador said, “This is a historical day when both Indonesia and St. Kitts and Nevis have officially established diplomatic relations to foster friendship and cooperation between the two countries and nations.”
With this diplomatic move, according to Desra, Indonesia now has diplomatic relations with 185 countries. Since 2011, Indonesia had established diplomatic relations with Mauritania, El Salvador, San Marino, Montenegro, Dominican Republic, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Antigua and Barbuda, Bhutan, Botswana, Tuvalu, Haiti and Nauru and Kiribati.
