In an interview with the coach / manager, Mr. Don Farrell, he told Miyvue.com that the team’s performance against Nevis exceeded the expectations of many, especially cricket fans in St. Kitts. The team was engaged in a 3 match series with sister island Nevis, with games played on both islands.
Farrell added that the good showing from the St. Kitts team was due to an all-round team performance from the players, but he singled out the performance of fast bowler Shino Berrigde, for his ability to pick up early wickets, and put the opposition on the back foot, in the initial stages of their innings.
Farrell added that victory over Nevis was also important to the St. Kitts Team because participation in the weekend series was also part of a campaign to get St Kitts players on the Leeward Islands senior team for the Caribbean T20. He said that with Nevis sporting so many top players on Saturday and Sunday, it should be viewed as a good sign for St. Kitts Cricket.
The team manager went on to say that following three straight days of playing, the players will on Monday begin their preparations for the Semi Finals of the NAGICO Tournament, to be played against Anguilla this weekend in the Valley. The team will travel to Anguilla on Thursday 11th October.
St. Kitts defeated Nevis 2-1 in the three match series which formed part of the Leeward Islands NAGICO Twenty20 tournament.
