Basseterre, Tuesday, 6th July, 2021, (MyVue News.com)-St. Kitts & Nevis on Monday,5th July, 2021, attained a milestone it never wanted. The number of COVID-19 cases moved past the 500 mark.

Twenty-three (23) new cases were confirmed on Monday, pushing the count to 515, since March 2020.

Most of these cases are in St. Kitts, with 497 and only 18 on Nevis.

According to the Situation Report issued overnight by the Ministry of Health, only 275 of these are active while another 237 have recovered.

Since the 46th case was confirmed back on 19th May this year, there has been an almost daily increase.

One hopeful indicator though has been the number of persons recovering. This figure has seen a gradual increase that is now approaching 240.

To help curb the spike, the country has been placed on a 24-hour lockdown, which is due to be adjusted on Thursday, 8th July, when residents will have the opportunity to stock up on supplies and engage in most commercial activities.
