It was always expected to be a close game and was therefore dubbed a “the fierce match” with fans predicting another showdown, similar to what occurred here in St. Kitts when the tournament was hosted in Basseterre in 2011.
Both teams had the same number of points going into the final encounter and knowing that a win would secure the 2012 championship.
An optimistic St. Kiss team however was foiled by the top defensive team in the competition, St. Vincent, who took down the Kittitians. St. Kitts was said to look dominant defeated all other countries with relatively easy victories, but found a stumbling block in the “Vincy girls”.
A high spirited St. Vincent team daunted the Kittitian chances of winning, eventually defeating St. Kitts 47 points to 42.
In the end St. Vincent captured the championship with St. Kitts second and Grenada placing 3rd.
The ceremony following the final game saw Best Shooting average going to St Kitts, Best Defending average went to St Vincent and the Grenadines while Most Disciplined team was Montserrat.
The 2013 championship is expected to be held in Antigua according to one official.
