A Rotary Club of Liamuiga (RCL) press release informs that St. Kitts is being represented by President Elect Peter Jenkins and Secretary Elect Julie Gumbs at the conference and training which are being held in Barbados. The conference and training sessions conclude on 17th April, 2011.
These sessions are being attended by representatives of nearly seventy (70) Rotary Clubs within Rotary District 7030 (Southern Caribbean) and Assistant District Governors Elect (AGEs) of the countries/territories within the District.
This training is an important Event on the Calendar of the District and Rotary International (RI) as it is the time when the new officials receive the training necessary for them to effectively carry out their mandate for the upcoming Rotary Year. The new Boards of the Clubs will be responsible for doing whatever is necessary for the furtherance of the purposes of the Clubs, the District and Rotary International (RI) as a whole, including the attainment/maintenance of the Object of Rotary, the study and teaching of RI’s fundamentals, the preservation of RI’s ideals, ethics and unique features of the RI organizations and extensions throughout the world.
The theme for the next Rotary Year, 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012, is “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity”. Rotary International President Elect (RIPE), Kalyan Banerjee, after unveiling the new theme said, “In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves.”
“Once Rotarians find their inner strength,” he continued, “they can accomplish great things in their communities and around the world.”
“Discover yourself, develop the strengths within, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity,” he added.
RIPE Kalyan emphasized the family as a starting point in serving others. He declared, “Good families lead to good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods build good communities.”
The four areas of focus for Rotary Year 2011-2012 will be: Family, Continuity, Change and Foundation.
Rotarians all over the world are expected to embrace the family and to remember our Haitian neighbours. They are also expected to continue the work that has been started in diabetic foot care, polio eradication, spreading literacy, providing clean safe water and working with youths.
As the Rotary Club of Liamuiga joins with its District Member Clubs to satisfy the request of RIPE Kalyan to focus on change in our efforts to encourage peace throughout the world, we look forward to the unwavering support of the citizens and residents of the Federation.
At this time sister Rotary District of District 7030, District 7020 (Northern Caribbean), is also hosting PETS and District Conference for its Club Executives. The location for this is St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands (USVI).
The New Boards of all Rotary Clubs worldwide take up duties on 1 July every year.
