St. Kitts Strikes Bronze at CARIFTA Games

The success has come from the talented Adrian Williams in the Javelin and Kristal Liburd in the Girls U17 Long Jump.

Williams copped the U 20 Bronze Medal with a distance of 63.22m behind Barbados’ Janeil Craig (Silver medal with a distance of 63.36) and the Gold Medalist, Alexander Pascal of the Caymans with a distance of 67.50m.

In his lead up to the Bronze, Williams reached distances of 53.6, 62.31, 60.10, 59.14, and 61.82, before recording his best for the competition, 63.22.

This performance also makes Williams the title holder of the new National Record for St. Kitts and Nevis.

Kristal-Liburd.jpg2Liburd on the other hand placed third to gain the Bronze medal in the U17 Long Jump with a distance of 5.74m. Her other attempts were: Foul (2.0), 5.43 (2.5), 5.71 (0.7), 5.7m (2.5), and 5.60m (3.3). This was also Liburd’s personal best.

The event won by Jalisa Burrowes of Barbados (5.77). Taking the silver medal was Andira Ferguson of the Bahamas (5.75m)

Also competing Sunday was IZAUN WARD in the 800m Under-20 Male where he clocked a time of 1:56:82 to gain the 4th position.
