State Scholar to attend Women’s Conference

The conference takes places in Washington D.C from 11th to 16th June 2013.

The annual summit is organized by ‘iLive2Lead’ which is a non-profit organization which develops the younger generation of international women leaders through intensive leadership and skill training, meetings with inspirational role models and the ongoing support of a mentor and peer network.

Tishanna, who is now nineteen years old said she was honoured to have been selected to participate in the Conference.

“I felt surprised at first and ecstatic,” she stated. “I feel honoured to be given such an opportunity to go to Washington D.C. [and interact with] leaders and officials from across the world and to have such extensive training in leadership so that I can pass it on when I get back.”

Tishanna was selected by officials at the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis based in the U.S. Capital. Her name was chosen from a list of the past 25 Most Remarkable Teen awardees provided by the Federal Department of Youth Empowerment. She received the award in 2011 for Citizenship and in 2012 after earning the Federal State Scholarship with seven Grade 1 passes in the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE).

Ambassador Her Excellency Jacinth Henry-Martin explained that Ms. Hazel is an excellent candidate to attend the summit.

“Tishanna’s academic record, her moral and spiritual rectitude, and her persevering spirit mark her as one destined for continued upward mobility as she strives to reach the goals she has set herself,” the Ambassador stressed.
