Modules such as “International Convention,” “Customer Service,” “X-ray Operator,” “Protection of Security Sensitive Information” among other aviation related topics were expertly facilitated by Mr. Royston Griffin and Ms. Charlene Warner of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Mr. Joseph Taylor, Mr. Everette Mason and Mr. Arthnel Jordon from SCASPA and Mrs. Avenice Thompson from LIAT.
Security Manager of SCASPA, Mr. Raymond Cotton, explained the significance of the training to SCASPA and its operations.
“SCASPA is required by International standards to train its officers in numerous modules as it relates to compliance with international standards so that they are knowledgeable about the cutting edge of security operations and procedures. All individuals performing security work at the RLB International Airport are required to complete mandatory training in the Aviation Security Basic 123 Training. The training was a success and the officers were excited and eager to learn and the organizing team expects successful results.”
At the end of the training, all officers were given an official written and practical examination. The results from the examination indicated whether the security officers can function within the premises of the Sea port and Airport under SCASPA’s mandate. Successful participants received an official training certificate in a graduation ceremony attended by officials from SCASPA and the Ministry.
